Monster Hunter Rise USJ Collab Azure gear revealed, starts January 21

Monster Hunter games have been getting collabs with Universal Studios Japan (USJ) for a while now, and Rise is getting its own with the USJ Azure gear set. Capcom has provided a closer look at the shiny Azure gear in a new trailer.

When the collaboration goes live, players will get to take on two new quests to earn materials to forge armor for your Hunter, Palico, and Palamute. The gear is called the “Azure Age” armor set, with the “Azure Star Blade I” and “Azure Era Wyrmbow I” weapons. The Monster Hunter Rise and Universal Studios Japan (USJ) collab arrives for the Switch version on January 21, 2022. The PC version will get it in late February, so Switch players will get a bit of a jump.

If you’re wondering what Monster Hunter has to do with USJ, it started in 2011 with a special event for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Since then, the theme park has featured multiple real-life Monster Hunter attractions, which had collaborations to go with the games.

In case you missed some of the earlier collaborations in Monster Hunter Rise, there was one with Sonic the Hedgehog in November. Before that, we got the “Rush Costume” from the Mega Man 11 collaboration in September.

Monster Hunter Rise is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion will be available sometime this summer. The game recently reached a new milestone of 8 million units shipped worldwide.
