Monster Hunter Rise surpasses 4 million units shipped worldwide

Monster Hunter Rise 4 million shipped

Monster Hunter Rise has only been out three days for Nintendo Switch, and the game already surpassed 4 million units shipped worldwide. That adds to the Monster Hunter series’s cumulative sales of over 66 million units shipped as of Dec. 31, 2020.

Here’s a tweet about the milestone from the official Monster Hunter Rise account:

The 4 million for Monster Hunter Rise falls short of Monster Hunter: World‘s debut of 5 million shipped during its opening weekend for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The main series entry before that in Monster Hunter 4 opened with over 1.8 million units sold in Japan alone in its first two days. The 2010 PSP title Monster Hunter Portable 3rd remains the best-selling handheld game from the series, with 4.9 million units sold to date. However, considering Portable 3rd was only released in Japan and Korea, we’ll likely see Monster Hunter Rise take the crown later this year.

The tweet also reminds fans that a free title update will arrive around the end of April. The Ver. 2.0 update features Chameleos, Apex Rathalos, and several new monsters. Capcom will share more details on the update in the coming weeks. Ver. 3.0 is also in the works to add more new monsters and a new ending.
