The latest Media Create numbers have hit the web and, without surprise, Monster Hunter 4 has been a ridiculous success. While the 3DS XL continues to top hardware sales, Monster Hunter 4 has the top spot in software sales for Japan in the week of 9/30 to 10/6.
Monster Hunter 4’s dominance comes from a sold/shipped ratio reported to be nearly 100%, with around 2.7 million units sold after 20 days of availability. In comparison, Monster Hunter Tri sold 3 million units in only 19 days, but this could be attributed to Tri being sold in December near the holidays. Monster Hunter Tri went on to ship 4.6 million units.
Following in the wake of Monster Hunter 4 is Koei Tecmo’s Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate, Armored Core: Verdict Day and The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki (all for PS3, plus Vita for The Legend of Heroes), while Nintendo published Friend Collection: New Life for 3DS placed in sixth.
Meanwhile, Media Create’s hardware sales for that same week looked as such:
3DS LL – 85,885
3DS – 37,102
PS3 – 10,232
PSP – 4,093
Wii U – 4,001
Vita – 3,538
Wii – 914
Xbox 360 – 354
From last week, the Wii U dropped by around one thousand units, while the 3DS and 3DS XL obviously destroyed the competition without fail.
