Minecraft Dungeons cross-play will arrive at last next week

Minecraft Dungeons cross-play launch November 17 Mojang Studios Nintendo Switch PlayStation 4 Xbox One PC

Mojang Studios’ Minecraft Dungeons is a solid, family-friendly alternative to Diablo set in one of the most ridiculously successful video game universes ever created, and the dungeon crawler is about to get even better. Minecraft Dungeons cross-play launches on Nov. 17 to enable players to play together across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Minecraft Dungeons: Creeping Winter DLC launched back in September, adding new areas to explore, new gear, and quality-of-live improvements, among other things. However, if you haven’t purchased the Mojang game yet, you may want to wait a teeny-tiny bit longer. This is because Nintendo has announced that Minecraft Dungeons Hero Edition will be discounted to $19.99 (normally $29.99) for Black Friday promotions at various retailers this year. This version of the game includes both Creeping Winter and the previous Jungle Awakens DLC, making it a terrific deal.

Cross-play seems to be becoming the norm with multi-platform titles like Minecraft Dungeons, and it’s a deeply welcome change from in previous console generations. Hopefully this trend continues with the launch of Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, though considering the widening technical gaps, it’s possible fewer games coming to those platforms will also make their way to Nintendo Switch in the future. But “Switch Pro” speculation continues…
