In October 2021, Metroid Dread debuted as the top-selling Nintendo Switch game of the month in the US. Yet a month later, according to new NPD Group sales data, Metroid Dread has dropped out of the top 10 bestselling Nintendo Switch games for November 2021 altogether. However, NPD Group Executive Director & Video Game Industry Advisor Mat Piscatella assures that Metroid Dread is still doing “just fine” for sales, and it actually ranked #11 among Switch games for November 2021.

The reason why Metroid Dread didn’t rank higher in the top 10 Switch games for November 2021 actually has little to do with the game itself. Rather, myriad games went on sale amid Black Friday / holiday sales, including evergreen titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, making it easy for those titles to rack up many more unit sales. Metroid Dread generally remained full price that whole time, being a brand new game, so the fact that it landed in spot #11 is perfectly normal. In essence, the parade of newfound Metroid franchise sales boosts is continuing, albeit a bit more quietly.
So yep, Metroid: Dread did just fine in month 2 for those wondering. #11 on the Nintendo charts, after a huge month 1, and in the mix with a bunch of massive Nintendo evergreen titles, some that were even price promoted. Deep breath, Metroid fans. Dread is doing well.

Elsewhere in NPD Group US video game software and hardware sales data for November 2021, we learned that Nintendo Switch is selling really well (shocking) and that Shin Megami Tensei V had the best launch sales in franchise history (go figure).
