There were rumors of a new 2D Metroid for a year and half, and now Metroid Dread is abruptly the most anticipated video game releasing on Nintendo Switch this year. However, collectors are inevitably also excited for the Metroid Dread amiibo, including Samus and enemy E.M.M.I. Well, coming via eagle-eyed deals extraordinaire Wario64, preorders for the Metroid Dread amiibo have already begun at Best Buy, retailing both figures together for $29.99, though the ability to purchase seems to be coming and going at present. (Additionally, Amazon has a listing that is not live for purchases yet.)

The E.M.M.I. are apparently DNA-extracting research robots that are hunting Samus, and they make for an imposing threat in the reveal trailer and all promotional images. So with these amiibo, you’re getting both a hero and a scourge of a villain. The functionality for either one does not seem to have been announced as of yet, but as usual, the figures themselves look pretty awesome. Of all the amiibo worth a preorder, these Metroid Dread amiibo for Samus and E.M.M.I. have to be up there in the rankings.
Best Buy is seemingly the first retailer to open Metroid Dread amiibo preorders, but it most assuredly won’t be the last. So keep your eyes open and your fingers nimble. They will launch alongside the release of the game on Oct. 8, 2021.
