4A Games’ Metro Redux for Nintendo Switch hasn’t been the best kept secret in the world. Back in October, it showed up on a Portuguese retail website. Now, the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) board has rated the game for release in Europe, all but confirming its existence. Metro Redux contains souped-up versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, which are post-apocalyptic first-person shooters with survival elements that are inspired by novels written by Dmitry Glukhovsky.
This would be the first time that the mutant-laden game series appears on a Nintendo console, though they’ve appeared almost everywhere else in one form or another. The most recent entry in the franchise, Metro Exodus, released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and (ha ha who even cares) Google Stadia last year to critical praise. The likelihood of that game finding its way to Switch is questionable, but two slightly older high-quality games is fine too. And if all that’s not enough, a Metro 2033 film adaptation is even in the works. There is no end to the options when you’re a fan of apocalypse and survival horror!
There is no word on a release date for Metro Redux on Switch yet, since 4A Games hasn’t acknowledged it yet.
