Back in October, Kadokawa Games announced a bunch of new projects in the long-running, mostly Japan-exclusive Metal Max RPG series. The first of these projects was Metal Max Xeno: Reborn, a full remake of the 2018 Metal Max Xeno game that came to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita to mixed reception. Now, we’ve got a look at what this reborn version of the game looks like thanks to a debut gameplay trailer.
The first major change in Metal Max Xeno: Reborn is the style of the graphics; while the original game utilized heavy cel-shading and stylized environments, the new version opts for more realistic environments and enemies, along with natural light rays. Characters still sport their anime-as-hell style, though. The other major change involves the game seemingly switching to real-time action combat. The original game had you wandering maps in your tank until you fired a shell at an enemy to trigger a turn-based battle. This new trailer, though, seemingly shows off you and your party members engaging in full battles right in the middle of the map.
Metal Max Xeno: Reborn is set to arrive in Japan for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on March 26, 2020. An overseas release hasn’t been confirmed as of writing.
