Fans have been waiting for a new Melty Blood for a good while now, and Type-Moon Ace volume 13 revealed Melty Blood: Type Lumina for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The new fighting game entry will launch worldwide in 2021.

The original Melty Blood was released for PC in Japan in May 2004 as a fighting game spinoff of Tsukihime. The story for Type Lumina appears to be a prequel story, but we’ll get more information on that later. It will feature over 10 playable characters from Tsukihime as well. The characters revealed in the magazine are Shiki Tohno, Akiha Tohno, Arcueid Brunetud, and Ciel.

As far as game modes go, it will include a story mode that features event stories for each character. It will also feature other modes, including a clear time challenge mode. Furthermore, those who aren’t good at fighting games will get the option to go with beginner-friendly simple controls, a staple in recent fighters like Dragon Ball FighterZ and many others. The game will also feature rollback netcode for its online play.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina launches worldwide for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2021. The official Twitter account and official website are both “coming soon.”
