Mega Man 11 and X Legacy Collection sold well! Sequels, please?

Mega Man 11 Mega Man X Legacy Collection strong sales Capcom

Capcom has released its financial results for the past nine months, and the prognosis is very good. Sales and profits are up for the company, thanks in no small part to the major success of Monster Hunter: World on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. But more importantly to me is that Mega Man sold well! Capcom says that Mega Man 11 “reported strong sales,” and “Mega Man X Legacy Collection, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 … performed well thanks to a dedicated fan base and strong brand capabilities.” As a hardcore fan, that’s what I like to hear!

Additionally, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection “performed strongly,” and Onimusha, which released at the end of the year, is said to be off to a “good start.” There isn’t a breakdown of how well these games sold on each individual console, but I’m sure Switch had a lot to do with Capcom’s healthy sales.

At any rate, Capcom has suggested in the past that the sales of current Mega Man titles would strongly influence if we see more new titles in the series in the future. The fact that all of these games sold well is outstanding news for the Mega Man community. Fingers crossed for Mega Man X9 or a new series that plays a lot like it!

*Update: According to an Investor Relations Q&A shared by Rockman Corner, Mega Man 11 sold approximately 870,000 copies, and Mega Man X Legacy Collection sold 920,000 units. However, there’s no specification on whether the X Legacy Collection figure is just for Collection 1 or 1+2.
