Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 reveals Loki, Cyclops, Colossus, more characters

At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel dropped some info about Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. The game launches tomorrow, but Marvel had one last big thing to reveal about the base game before launch: Loki. A lot of information about the DLC was provided too.

Marvel confirmed Loki as the final character for the base game. Loki is Thor’s brother, and if you’ve been to a movie theater at all in the past 10 years, you know who Loki is. First introduced in 1962, he is the reason the Avengers formed in the first place. Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe pushed the character toward cultural icon status.

Additionally, it was revealed that both Cyclops and Colossus will be added to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 in post-launch free DLC. Both characters are in the base game but are unplayable. Cyclops and Colossus will launch on Aug. 30, so get ready.

Marvel Knights is coming to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

At the tail end of the panel, Marvel gave us a sneak peek at the first DLC pack, the Marvel Knights pack. The characters included in the pack are as follows:

  • The Punisher, a reckless vigilante who has no qualms about killing his enemies
  • Blade, a half-vampire who dedicated his life to hunting vampires
  • Morbius, a scientist who accidentally turned himself into a living vampire
  • Moon Knight, a cult-favorite hero who’s both a detective and an avatar for a moon god

The Marvel Knights pack should be available sometime in September. Marvel Knights is Marvel’s more adult line of comics, and that’s reflected in the characters they chose. It’s a little humorous that the DLC pack includes both sorta-vampires. Hopefully, the DLC will include a lot of back-and-forth between the two.

The contents of the other two Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 DLC packs are also still unknown. That said, it’s not a stretch to assume that the four characters in the Fantastic Four pack will be the Fantastic Four. That pack and the X-Men pack are probably a little ways away from seeing the light of day, but we’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled for any information about them.
