Mario and Sonic Clash at The Windy Hill Stage in Today’s Smash Bros. Update

The battle of two legends continues in Smash for Wii U and 3DS, and with the release of Sonic Lost World in Japan today, Smash Bros. designer Masahiro Sakurai has uploaded a new screenshot update featuring Mario and Sonic upon the new Windy Hill stage.

\”Sonic: Lost World is out in Japan today! The Windy Hill area can also be seen in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U… but I can\’t tell you all the details yet!\”

The Windy Hill stage has been seen in previous screenshots, as it was included in screenshots as part of the full Sonic character reveal. Although we have seen the Wii U version of the stage a number of times now, we could also see the same stage on the 3DS version as Sonic Lost World too has a 3DS edition of its own.

In this particular screenshot, however, we don\’t seem to learn as much as we\’d hope, except that clashing moves also seem to get a bit more of a visual cue than before. We can see Mario’s fireball and Sonic’s jab clashing with each other here, causing an interesting animation to appear as a result, much like the tiny sparks that pop from characters when they get footstooled.

While there is yet a certain release date for the new Smash installments, Sonic Lost World has been released already in Europe and Australia, while the game hits shelves in Japan today and releases in North America on October 29th.
