You know you’re old when you hear the words “Over 11 years after [Mario Kart Wii‘s] initial release” in a YouTube video. Jesus, did that much time already pass by?

In any case, yes, the Wii console’s own Mario Kart game is over a decade old. Over the years, dedicated speedrunners of the physical and tool-assisted variety uncovered some insane exploits throughout many of the game’s racetracks. As it turns out, players are discovering shortcuts even to this day, they recently pulled off a trio of new ultra-shortcuts—all within the span of 24 hours!

The courses in question involve retro courses N64 Bowser’s Castle and GBA Shy Guy’s Beach, as well as Koopa Cape. YouTuber Flamin’ Funky catalogued these new exploits in his coverage below!

It’s amazing to see speedrun records being broken and new tricks discovered even now. For example, Torje recently did the impossible and beat The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in under 17 minutes! With that, Flamin’ Funky speculates that more exploits remain to be found in Mario Kart Wii; I’m excited to see what secrets still lurk in the game!

What do you think of these brand new shortcuts? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
