Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just got its first patch in two years

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just got its first patch in two years earlier this morning. The patch, which addresses a handful of small bugs, is required if you want to play online. The changelog is pasted below for your convenience. Basically, if you’ve been dealing with issues regarding tournament points or are worried about the security of your friend match history, Nintendo’s got you covered.

– Addressed an issue that caused tournament points to be reset.

– Addressed an issue that caused match history with friends to be reset.

The incredibly popular kart racer (which just surpassed a staggering 35 million units sold) runs and plays quite well, but evidently, Nintendo is still finding a few small bugs to squish a few years after the game came to Switch.

A minor patch isn’t quite the out-of-the-blue update I’d have liked to have seen for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (I need track DLC if we’re not gonna get Mario Kart 9), and it’s a little strange that Nintendo just dropped this random bit of support out of the blue, but I won’t complain. Many publishers would have abandoned a game by this point, and it’s good of Nintendo to keep working to find and correct errors in their games.
