Stop hitting yourself: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe speedrun challenge asks gamers to “Blue Yourself”

Blue Yourself speedrun challenge

Do you own a Nintendo Switch? Chances are you have a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, then. It’s only the bestselling Mario Kart title, after all. But seeing as the game is quite a bit old at this point, with nary a whisper of DLC on the horizon, fans have taken it upon themselves to create their own fun with the racer. One way they are doing so is with the most recent Mario Kart 8 speedrun challenge. Entitled “Blue Yourself,” this contest tasks players with blasting themselves with their own Blue Shell in the quickest way possible.

The “Blue Yourself” speedrun challenge taps into human depravity

The rules of the “Blue Yourself” challenge are pretty straightforward. For starters, you have to be playing single-player. You must be lagging well behind other racers, nab the Blue Shell item, take it with you into first place, and then blast yourself. Blue Shells thrown by CPU characters don’t count, and shells that hit you but target another character aren’t viable.

At the moment, SkillozGaming has the record. He managed to hit his Baby Daisy in 37 seconds:

The lengths gamers will go to keep themselves entertained!

The “Blue Yourself” speedrun challenge is pretty new, with records being set recently. You can always take a stab at it if you are feeling lucky!

Enthusiasts, what are your thoughts on the “Blue Yourself” speedrun challenge? Is it a satisfying way to continue to experience Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? Let us know below.
