While Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Nintendo Wii graced only Wario with true alternate costumes, it seems like Sakurai and the development team are spreading the love a bit this time around. In today’s official Smash Bros. update for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS, we get a chance to see one of the first alternate costumes to be revealed for the new games. Here, Little Mac keeps his pink sweatsuit on and joins the battle looking fresh.
\”Pic of the day. The pink sweatshirt looks really cool on Little Mac, so you can use that outfit in this game… How can a pink sweatshirt look so cool?\”
This is, of course, Little Mac’s warm-up outfit shown in his reveal trailer. Little Mac also pulls this sweatshirt off as his introduction animation when he joins a fight, so this only leads the question of what Little Mac will do when this costume is selected. Will Little Mac put the sweatshirt on instead of taking it off? Or, maybe he tears off his pink sweatshirt only to reveal another pink sweatshirt beneath it. So many important questions left unanswered!
\”Looks like some of you noticed that this version of Little Mac wasn\’t shown at E3. There are many things, like Link’s Skyward Sword tunic design I posted earlier, that haven\’t been revealed yet.\”
Indeed, neither of these outfits were available at E3, the Invitational, nor at the Best Buy demos. Still, it is very promising and exciting to hear that there is still more to be revealed. Is he only talking about alternate costumes, now?
By the way, to clarify, there is a difference between an alternate costume and a recolor. Recolors are like the blue, red, and green colors each character has for the different team color designations, whereas an alternate costume actually changes the character’s model and goes beyond recoloring. Wario in Brawl wears different clothes, for example, when you switch between his Wario Land and WarioWare looks.
