Lego Sonic the Hedgehog set image has apparently leaked online

Lego Sonic the Hedgehog box image leak first playset Dr Robotnik Green Hill Zone

You wouldn’t think that toy playsets for children would be a thing that warrants leaks or news stories about those leaks, but here we are: An image for a Lego Sonic the Hedgehog set has apparently leaked online, via a listing at eBay-ish online commerce website Mercado Libre. It’s pretty likely legitimate, since we in fact already knew that an official Sonic the Hedgehog Lego set is coming, as a result of the Lego Ideas program.

Lego Ideas allows enthusiasts to submit their own designs for potential Lego playsets, and the ones that receive over 10,000 votes from other enthusiasts are considered for an official release. In the past year, Viv Grannell from the United Kingdom submitted a concept based on Sonic’s Green Hill Zone that garnered an enthusiastic response. Thus, Lego announced back in February that a set based on Green Hill Zone would officially enter production. This new image leak appears to show us what the Lego Sonic the Hedgehog set will look like, containing all the little details we would expect — plus Dr. Robotnik for good measure. It looks and feels like a good rendition of the franchise in Lego format, so now we just have to wait for an official announcement.
