Following last night, when Nintendo accidentally leaked the existence of Kirby Fighters 2 all by itself, the game has now been officially announced and surprised launched on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Up to four Kirbys will fight to the finish, whittling their opponents’ health down to nothing. You have a selection of 17 copy abilities from which to choose, including Sword, Cutter, Artist, and the brand new Wrestler. However, if you don’t want to be a Kirby variant, you can also be other series characters, including Bandana Waddle Dee, Meta Knight, King Dedede, Gooey, and Magolor. This makes for a total 22 different fighting styles.

On top of the typical Battle Mode, which includes team battles and a lot of familiar series locations and cool items, Kirby Fighters 2 also has a Story Mode. You can play Story Mode with a friend and climb a tower where you confront different opponents on each floor, attempting to reach the top to duel King Dedede and Meta Knight. You will encounter different enemies each time you play this mode.

You have many options to play Kirby Fighters 2 multiplayer. Four players can play locally on one system, or on separate systems over local wireless connection, or just online. Whatever’s most convenient for you — this game supports it. And finally, if you have save data from Kirby Star Allies or Super Kirby Clash on your Nintendo Switch, you’ll receive rare hats! That’s, ya know, something!

Kirby Fighters 2 is available now for $19.99 on the Switch eShop. The game was developed by HAL Laboratory and Vanpool.
