Katsuhiro Harada is a general manager at Bandai Namco with a finger in many pies, but he’s most commonly known as the producer of the Tekken series. However, Harada is currently working on something different that he thinks is probably the most expensive Bandai Namco game in company history. This information comes from Harada’s comments on the Piro Live! New Year’s Eve Special 2021 livestream, as relayed by Games Talk and translated by Gematsu.
“I think its incredible that the higher-ups approved of this,” Harada said of this mysterious and expensive Bandai Namco game. “Well, the approval has passed; it’s just that due to the coronavirus, we haven’t really been able to properly start the project.” He went on to add, “I’m developing things other than fighting games. I don’t think I’ll ever do any other fighting game other than Tekken. But I won’t say what this project is at this point.”
These days, most of the most expensive video games are massive open-world projects like Grand Theft Auto V and Cyberpunk 2077, so perhaps Harada is cooking up a distinctly Bandai Namco version of that. Alternatively — who knows — perhaps he is cooking up a blockbuster in the vein of a Naughty Dog game. Whatever it is, we’re here for it, and hopefully it will come to a Nintendo Switch successor console.
