JYP Entertainment’s Twice, easily one of the most popular K-pop groups out of South Korea, has teamed up with Nintendo to promote Nintendo Switch, via the Korean Nintendo website. The result of that collaboration so far: tons of pictures of beautiful women playing Nintendo Switch. I’m fine with that. Twice consists of members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu, each of whom has become famous on her own, and arguably the only bigger girl group in Korea at this point is Blackpink. (That’s the power of a Netflix documentary, I guess.)
Twice and Nintendo Switch are a no-brainer team-up for a variety of reasons. The group’s massive popularity within Korea and also globally offers plenty of brand recognition. Twice also has an overall wholesome image, not really veering into tough “girl crush” concepts, which agrees with Nintendo’s family-friendly image. Also, the Twice song “Feel Special” appears in Just Dance 2021, which is available on Nintendo Switch.
Clearly, Jihyo and Mina stretching and playing Ring Fit Adventure is the thing you needed to see today.
It’s not even a Nintendo Switch advertisement at this point if Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesn’t show up.
This Twice Nintendo Switch collaboration isn’t the first case of Nintendo utilizing the power of K-pop. Last year, we reported on how Nintendo did a collaboration with Jeon So-mi for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. But if you’ve never given Twice a listen, well, hey, go ahead and change that below. (GFriend is my favorite though.)
