John Wick Hex brings its strategic gameplay to Switch in December

One of the more random video games to ever exist, John Wick Hex is an action strategy game from Thomas Was Alone creator Mike Bithell’s Bithell Games and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment. It is a prequel to the Keanu Reeves John Wick films, yet the art style and general vibe kind of scream Metal Gear Acid from the Sony PSP days. The game released to overall pretty positive reviews on PC last year, followed this year by a release on PlayStation 4. Now, it will finally come to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on Dec. 4.

John Wick Hex describes itself as “fight-choreographed chess brought to life as a video game, capturing the series’s signature gun fu style while expanding its story universe.” By way of tactical combat and time-based action, the game aims to make you feel on a cerebral level what it’s like to be John Wick, making second-to-second decisions on how to kill the hundred guys standing around you. Additionally, new weapons and suit options will unlock as you play.

If you somehow deeply care about the story in John Wick Hex, which would amaze me, it’s “John on a desperate mission to rescue Winston and Charon from a dangerous new adversary seeking his birthright.” Ian McShane and Lance Reddick reprise their roles.
