Per translation from unofficial news site Japanese Nintendo, an announcement from Nintendo has confirmed that Japanese Switch shipments will resume this week. Shipments were suspended last week, with the only stock being brought to the region already earmarked for those who had preordered it. Now though, Nintendo is bringing more stock to Japan, making the consoles available to those who haven’t preordered.
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons edition Switch will also be made available with Japanese Switch shipments. Nintendo has advised consumers to check with their retailers for stock availability on this model, though that Switch will be available for preorder on the Japanese My Nintendo store while supplies last starting on April 27. Given the fact that Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the most talked-about game on Twitter in Japan last year, the limited edition bundle will probably sell quickly upon hitting the shelves.
Last week we reported that Switch shipments in the U.S. and E.U. were returning to some sort of normality. With factories in China and Vietnam reopening in some capacity, the components needed to build the consoles are getting built, as is the hardware as a result. Now it looks like Switch stock will be more widely available around the world, not just in these western markets.
While manufacturing of Switch consoles is very gradually returning to normal, it’s important to remember that these latest shipments are still prone to sell out, and you should act accordingly.
