It is “possible to release” Kingdom Hearts III on Switch according to Nomura

It’s possible for Kingdom Hearts III to come to Nintendo Switch according to Tetsuya Nomura. The director of the franchise spoke to Famitsu about Nintendo’s latest console, saying it’s “possible to release” the game on Switch. The interview, transcribed by Newsweek, also indicated that Nintendo Switch is not the only hardware being considered for the franchise.

Other hardware is not limited to the Nintendo switch, and we will consider all of them after the release of the  PS4 and Xbox one versions

Kingdom Hearts III launched last week for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and was met with mostly positive reviews. Square Enix clearly isn’t opposed to bringing the franchise to new consoles. After all, the conclusion to the main series is the only installment to release on an Xbox console.

As a massive Kingdom Hearts fan, I would buy a game in the franchise for my Nintendo Switch in a heartbeat. The Final Fantasy and Disney hybrid is an ambitious project that has been a part of gaming culture since 2002. Fans of the franchise have been anticipating Kingdom Hearts III for nearly a decade, and it’s fascinating to see the product finally hit store shelves.

It’s worth noting that the franchise is no stranger to the Nintendo family of consoles, with Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories launching on Game Boy Advance in 2004, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 hitting DS in 2009, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded for DS in 2011. It would be interesting to see if only Kingdom Hearts III comes to Switch or if the collection of the series will make an appearance.
