Anime always asks the tough questions that society isn’t ready to answer. Should you fuse your daughter with a dog? Can giant robots use guns in space? Should firefighters also be nuns? Come 2020, we’ll be able to answer another classic anime question via the Nintendo Switch. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, colloquially known as DanMachi, will be getting a dungeon RPG adaptation for consoles titled Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate, and it comes out next year overseas.
It makes nothing but sense for DanMachi to get a proper console video game adaptation. Like so many other high-fantasy anime series, it takes place in a heavily RPG-inspired world where adventurers have class types and skill points and special abilities. It only seems natural, then, for 5pb, developer Mages, and publisher PQube Games to translate that RPG-inspired action into an actual DanMachi dungeon crawling experience.
In Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate, players will navigate Mystery Dungeon-style caves and arenas as cutesy little versions of their favorite characters from the DanMachi series, like Ais Wallenstein and Bell Cranel, as you jump between their stories. You can even call in support attacks from series regulars like Bete Loga and Riveria Ljos Alf. The story of the game follows the flow of the original anime from the beginning, with plenty of new story content exclusive to the game.
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate is set to release physically in 2020 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 and digitally on Steam.
