Influx of New Switch Owners Brings the eShop to Its Knees

A lot of people just became Switch owners for the first time today. As a result, network traffic on Nintendo’s servers has spiked massively. This has resulted in a lot of people having trouble doing simple things like accessing the eShop. Nintendo is aware of the ‘switchuation’ and is currently working to try and get things running smoothly:

Nintendo performed quite a lot of network maintenance last week, most likely to prepare for this wave of new traffic. Still, it looks like the crowd has ended up being a lot bigger than expected. With this being the case, you’re probably going to need to be a little patient today when it comes to trying to access the eShop on your Switch.
