Immortals: Fenyx Rising may be the new (bad) name of Gods & Monsters

Ubisoft Forward Immortals: Fenyx Rising Gods & Monsters Taiwan rating Greek mythology adventure Assassin's Creed Odyssey

The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated an Ubisoft game titled Immortals: Fenyx Rising, and it is almost definitely the new title for upcoming all-ages action adventure Gods & Monsters, since that game’s protagonist’s name is Fenyx. Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad has also explicitly stated this is the game’s new title, so it seems like a done deal.

Ubisoft announced Gods & Monsters at E3 2019 as a game from the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey team rooted in Greek mythology, and it is slated to release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. It was originally supposed to launch this past February, but following the pronounced commercial failure of Ghost Recon Breakpoint at launch, Gods & Monsters (and other Ubisoft titles) was delayed in October 2019 to increase its quality and not repeat Breakpoint‘s mistakes.

The new Immortals: Fenyx Rising rating indicates some larger announcement is likely coming, especially since Ubisoft will hold a second Ubisoft Forward digital showcase in September. The first showcase featured literally no Nintendo Switch news, so hopefully that changes in a big way this time around.

I’m admittedly not interested in just about any of Ubisoft’s franchises, but this game has had me intrigued from the beginning. Immortals: Fenyx Rising is a pretty spectacularly generic name though, which is saying something considering the game’s original name. But as long as it’s fun to play, nobody will care.
