Publisher Outright Games and developer Drakhar Studio have announced that Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in October 2021 and just in time for Halloween. A short teaser trailer doesn’t showcase any gameplay but just does a jovial job of letting you know the game exists. Meanwhile, PR only describes the game like this: “This 3D platform adventure will take players on a fairy tale journey, putting them in control of their favorite characters as the game re-imagines classic stories, such as ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes.'”
Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures is obviously related to Sony Pictures’ Hotel Transylvania film franchise, the first three films of which collectively grossed more than $1.3 billion at the box office. The fourth and final film in the franchise, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, is currently scheduled for a theatrical release this summer (unless some streamer swoops in and buys it).
Outright Games is known for its wide variety of family-friendly video games tied to established IP, such as The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom, Transformers Battlegrounds, and Zoids Wild Blast Unleashed. How much quality each individual game carries is a different story, but Outright has evidently found a successful business model for itself, which is nothing to sneeze at in this volatile industry.
Stay tuned for more details on Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures as October approaches.
