Hitman 3 – Cloud Version will hit up Nintendo Switch

Hitman 3 is set to launch in January 2021 on current-gen and next-gen consoles, and now developer IO Interactive has revealed a Nintendo Switch version. That’s right, the hybrid console is getting a version of the latest Hitman game, rather than an older port. However, the catch is that just like Control, this one is streamed via the cloud: Hitman 3 – Cloud Version.

The game is coming to Switch almost assuredly next year, although the Nintendo eShop listing currently says that the release date is still to be determined. With this being a cloud version though, there’s no real porting needed for a conversion to Switch. Hopefully, this means the Switch version comes day and date next January.

This is the first time we’ve seen IO Interactive’s Hitman series on Switch, even if it’s a streamed version. Control Ultimate Edition – Cloud Version is currently live and has a (brief) free trial though, which is a good feature to test stability out. Let’s hope the free trial period becomes a standard feature if cloud versions for Switch become a popular release route.

Elsewhere in today’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, Nintendo revealed two No More Heroes games for Switch, along with a new Story of Seasons and fresh (delay) details on Bravely Default II.

Do you think cloud versions of high-end games like Hitman 3 is a good route for the hybrid console?
