Datamine: A hidden file within Switch’s Super Mario 3D World hints at Toadette being a playable character

Mario 3D World Toadette

We here at Nintendo Enthusiast believe Switch’s Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is an excellent time. It’s a great game on the Wii U and it’s even better on Switch thanks to the added expansion. Even though the title has been out for only a short while, gamers have been discovering interesting secrets hidden within. Like Twitter user Nickolox, who has unearthed evidence of Toadette either once being considered as a playable character or as an upcoming addition to the game.

Super Mario 3D World with Toadette will just add to a completionist’s nightmare

Here is Nickolox’s tweet explaining their datamine findings:

That’s not all. The plot thickens when a user asks for evidence:

Yep, that’s definitely Toadette’s voice. I’d recognize it anywhere since I played quite a bit of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Since this discovery was made on the Switch version of Super Mario 3D World and not the Wii U one, I believe this signifies Toadette eventually making her way to the five-player co-op adventure. As always, take all of this information with a grain of salt until we get confirmation from Nintendo, if ever.

Enthusiasts, what are your thoughts? Do you think Toadette is coming to Super Mario 3D World via a free update? Or do you imagine she was scrapped at some point during the game’s initial development? Let us know with a comment below.
