Fan recreates the HAL logo with their dog for the company’s 40th birthday

As one of the longest-running teams in video games, HAL Laboratory recently celebrated its 40th anniversary in style. The developer, whose hands have crafted beloved entries in the KirbySuper Smash Brothers, and Adventures of Lolo series, put out some special commemorative artwork to honor the occasion. They were not the only ones making a day of it, though. Twitter user @washibyy, for example, saw an opportunity to imitate the famous HAL Laboratory logo in real life, courtesy of their extremely adorable dog. They showed off their recreation on Twitter.

A little bit after that first tweet, one of the eggs evidently hatched into a healthy baby Kirby. That’s that HAL magic for ya.

The HAL logo never made a lot of sense to me, but I have never really questioned it, either. Now that it has led me to see this incredibly cute dog from all the way across the world, I am a huge fan.

Can you believe that HAL is already 40 years old? Personally, whenever I see their logo, I think of a childhood favorite, Super Smash Bros. Melee. That’s my earliest experience with their games, as well. What about you? How long have you been playing their games? Which is your favorite? What comes to mind when you see this logo?
