Gris is a new 2D platforming and puzzle game from Devolver Digital and Nomada Studio. Releasing on the Nintendo Switch and PC this December, the game’s story remains a bit of a mystery. However, we do know it involves a young girl whose name is the game’s title. Wearing a black dress amidst a colorful world, Gris “Finds herself dealing with a painful experience in her life” per the trailer’s description.
Gris also includes an original score from Berlinist playing over its very different and colorful areas created by Illustrator Conrad Roset. However, in an interview with Polygon, Nomada Studio Co-Founder Roger Mendoza said bright colors are not something you see at the beginning of the game.
“You start pretty much with nothing and then you see her growing and learning from her surroundings and dealing with the whole thing,” said Mendoza, who continued, “At the end you see all the colors and the world changes”. What are your thoughts on the trailer? Comment below!
