GoldenEye 007 is apparently coming to Xbox, the original version

Rare GoldenEye 007 Xbox One release date achievements images leak first pictures

An achievement list and images have emerged for legendary Rare first-person shooter GoldenEye 007 on Xbox One. That’s pretty much a slam dunk that the 1997 Nintendo 64 shooter is coming to Xbox — and probably soon. Microsoft bought Rare from Nintendo way back in 2002, but to date, only an HD remake of GoldenEye 007 called GoldenEye 007: Reloaded arrived on Xbox 360 in 2011. Another decade later, the original game appears to be finally arriving on Xbox, which likely means some complicated licensing issues have been worked out as well.

Rare released a celebrated collection for Xbox One back in 2015 called Rare Replay, which included 30 games across the developer’s long and diverse history, but GoldenEye 007 was notably absent. It did include that game’s spiritual sequel though, Perfect Dark, which some (me specifically) argue is a better game owing to its multiplayer bots and a variety of creative sci-fi weapons. Nonetheless, GoldenEye 007 is the game that revolutionized what a first-person shooter could be on consoles.

At present, Rare is developing a game called Everwild, which reportedly is having an intensely troubled development and was allegedly even rebooted from scratch in 2021. It’s now expected to arrive in 2024. At least it has the hard-fought-for success of Sea of Thieves to keep it afloat.
