Just a few days ago, Bandai Namco and Nintendo dropped an interesting announcement out of nowhere: the return of the Wii sleeper-hit Go Vacation. The open-world minigame collection is making its way to the Nintendo Switch this summer, and it’s bringing in a handful of new goodies.
The reveal has been followed up with what you’d expect: a look at the boxart, confirmation of pricing, some new screenshots and pre-orders have also now been opened via Amazon. The game launches on July 27, 2018.
I’m sure what you’re most concerned about is how much the game is set to cost. It’ll be $50, which is the same price it launched at back in 2011 on the Wii. Considering that this is mostly just a straightforward port, it’s a little surprising that this price was decided upon. Moving along, check out the snazzy new boxart. The original Wii boxart is on the right:
The new boxart on Switch is a little less busy than its Wii counterpart but retains a colorful/cartoony theme. As for the new details, here’s what’s been added in the Switch release:
- Marine & Mountain fishing with 30+ species of fish
- 40+ types of animals to photograph and store in your in-game photo collection
- Find boxes filled with rewards dropped by a plane
There’s no mention of any real graphical updates, but the new screenshots that have been released do look pretty clean. There does still seem to be a lack of anti-aliasing, unfortunately. But, the stylized/semi-realistic artstyle do help the game retain its charm even though it’s only really just been upscaled. Check out the gallery:
