Rumor: FromSoftware partnering with George R.R. Martin for open-world game

FromSoftware George R.R. Martin Dark Souls open-world game consulted Japanese game

This has to be the craziest (yet credible) rumor we’ve shared so far this year: Dark Souls developer FromSoftware might be partnering with author George R.R. Martin to create an open-world game.

The A Song of Ice and Fire author will allegedly be responsible for realizing the game world, along with writing the narrative. The game world will be populated by different kingdoms that may be traveled to in any order, and defeating the ruler of a given area will provide a new ability (Mega Man-style) to take with you through the rest of your adventure. The game is to be published by Bandai Namco.

This wild rumor comes from YouTube channel Spawn Wave (below), which in turn cites Liam Robertson as the source. Robertson is a trusted journalist well known for the DidYouKnowGaming? YouTube channel, so this one might actually be worth getting your hopes for.

What are your thoughts on this FromSoftware rumor? Totally bogus? Or are you all set to preorder Game of Mega Dark Souls? Or maybe you’re just angry that George R.R. Martin is finding one more reason to delay the release of his next book? Let us know!
