TIME Studios announced today that they are partnering with Epic Games on a Fortnite Creative experience meant to educate players about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life. This upcoming interactive experience is titled “March Through Time,” and it takes players back in time 60 years to the day of the legendary Civil Rights activist. I cannot stress enough that Fortnite has not announced Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a playable character or skin.
Fortnite’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. experience
March Through Time
March Through Time takes players to “D.C. 63,” a reimagined Washington, DC built in Fortnite. Here players will “travel to Lincoln Memorial and United States National Mall, where Dr. King gave his iconic 17-minute speech for Civil Rights.” Afterward, players can also experience “museum-inspired points of interest, and collaborative mini-game quests you complete with others.”
These collaborative quests are meant to “bring to life important themes of Dr. King’s speech: we move forward when we work together.” Players who successfully complete all of the challenges will unlock a D.C. 63 spray for their Locker. Epic Games is also encouraging players to share how Dr. King has impacted their lives on social platforms like TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram. TIME has also set up a website where they encourage players to further “educate yourself, family, or friends about the history of Civil Rights.” You can visit it by clicking here.
