Publisher Frontier Foundry and developer Okomotive have announced a March 1, 2022 release date for FAR: Changing Tides on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Game Pass, and PC. Preorders have already begun on most platforms, but Switch preorders will begin in February. This game is the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2018 (2019 on Switch) post-apocalyptic vehicle exploration game, FAR: Lone Sails.
FAR: Changing Tides mixes up the formula substantially with stormy skies and submerged cities in a flooded world. However, Don Schmocker, co-founder and lead artist at Okomotive, has explained in a PlayStation.Blog post that Changing Tides aims to offer a “familiar, meditative atmosphere whilst offering players a fresh, thought-provoking experience.” You play as Toe, and you must keep upgrading your reliable ship with the resources you find in your often deep-sea travels. Predictably, the game will employ a lot of environmental storytelling with its desolate and captivating play areas, and you will be engaging in a lot of vertical exploration and puzzle-solving if you want to see everything the game has to offer. Check out the brief FAR: Changing Tides preorder and release date trailer to get a better idea.
If you want to helm and upgrade an epic ship and explore a world that has been swallowed by the oceans, FAR: Changing Tides seems like the thing to play on Nintendo Switch, and its release date is just a couple months away now.
