Experience suffers data loss for crowdfunded horror game Shibito Magire

Experience Shibito Magire data loss

Experience CEO Hajime Chikami has revealed that the company suffered data loss for its crowdfunded horror game, Shibito Magire. The game is the third entry of the Spirit Hunter series, funded through a Campfire crowdfunding campaign back in December 2019. The incident happened sometime after the company announced its release date, March 24, 2022, last week.

Hajime Chikami: “The server, the backup… everything is lost. The data for Shibito is completely gone.”

While the data loss is a big blow to the Experience project, it appears that not everything was lost. One fan said that they’re willing to wait as long as it takes, so long as the developers take care of their health. Chikami replied that the company has some of the data in a separate backup used for recent projects. In any case, Experience managed to avoid the absolute worst-case scenario, but the developers weren’t far from it.

Chikami further mentioned that the individuals who worked on the game should also have their backups, so a restoration should be possible in a few days. Experience is currently working on piecing the project back together and will share more details in the coming days.

Shibito Magire is still set to release for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan on March 24, 2022.
