We’re comfortable with admitting it: EA Play Live 2020 was a dud. It wasn’t terrible and it was well-produced, but there were surprisingly few announcements actually made. However, besides the reveal of Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch, there’s another surprising bit of info for Switch owners. Speaking about Electronic Arts titles, Respawn Entertainment Senior Social Media Manager Alex Ackerman revealed: “You can expect seven new games coming to Switch in the next 12 months, including Burnout Paradise (Remastered) coming tomorrow and Apex Legends later this year.” We’ve cued up the moment below. However, it’s also now known that FIFA 21 Legacy Edition will come to Nintendo Switch on Oct. 9 as well.
Regarding more FIFA for Switch, EA has stated: “The FIFA 21 Legacy Edition on Nintendo Switch features the latest kits and squad updates for the upcoming season, updated presentation (in-game menus and broadcast overlays), but no new game modes or gameplay innovations.”
So it’s, ya know, better than nothing, which is the kindest way to describe much of EA’s output for Nintendo Switch so far, which includes Fe, Unravel Two, FIFA 18, FIFA 19, and FIFA 20.
It’s pretty unfortunate that Apex Legends was the only big news for Switch at EA Play Live 2020, but since we know for sure there is plenty more where that came from, I think we’ll recover just fine.
