Dragon’s Dogma anime is coming to Netflix in September

Capcom Netflix anime release date Dragon's Dogma anime

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen came to Nintendo Switch in April of last year, but that wasn’t the only news in the franchise last year. Way back in March 2019, Netflix announced that the Capcom game would be getting an animated adaptation with the animation studio Sublimation. Then, admittedly, we completely forgot. But no longer. Netflix has revealed the Dragon’s Dogma anime will release on Sept. 17, and it has a cool promotional image to go with it.

Despite the release date announcement, there still isn’t a lot we know about the Dragon’s Dogma anime. Per a press release shared to Variety last year, “The story follows a man’s journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart. On his way, the man is brought back to life as an ‘Arisen’. An action adventure about a man challenged by demons who represent the seven deadly sins of humans.”

The Capcom game Dragon’s Dogma originally released in 2012, followed by an enhanced version a year later in Dark Arisen, and it was well-received enough that it just kept getting ports to more platforms for the next six years. We should all be so lucky to create something that just keeps coming back to find a new audience like this.

Netflix has been a busy bee with video game adaptations, considering it also has The Cuphead Show! and several other adaptations in the works.
