Dragon Quest X Offline release date revealed for Switch & other platforms

Square Enix has wrapped up its TGS 2021 announcements with a new trailer for Dragon Quest X Offline that reveals its release date and platforms of Switch, PS5, PS4, and Steam.

The announcement comes from Square Enix’s last video game program at TGS, which offered an abundance of news for Dragon Quest X Offline, the upcoming offline version of Dragon Quest X with cute chibi characters. The Dragon Quest X Offline program featured producer Takuma Shiraishi among other talents, who talked about the game and shared the new trailer, release date, and platforms.

The original Dragon Quest X (online version) is an MMORPG, so it needs much more space for all players. Since Dragon Quest X Offline only needs room for one player, Square Enix essentially scaled it down with a cuter appearance. The smaller scale helps not only the pacing but also the overall accessibility of the game. The developers used the “DD Rotoscope Rendering” technique to trace over motion pictures from the original 3D models to give more cartoony but accurate appearances for everything from characters to objects. You can check out plenty more details in our previous report.
