Dr. Mario World announced as free-to-play mobile game

Dr. Mario is coming back into the office, albeit a different one than he is used to working in. Newly announced Dr. Mario World will be launching on smartphones early in 2019, in just a matter of months. The game will be free to download and free to play. Presumably, there will be some microtransactions, although we do not yet know the nature of the gameplay and the pay structure. While the game will be launching in more than 60 countries, it seems that it will not be launching for any platform other than Android and iOS. Sorry, Switch!

Dr. Mario World is developed in collaboration with two other mobile game developers: LINE and NHN Entertainment. The latter company has previously released several online mobile game titles.

The last Dr. Mario game wasn’t actually a Dr. Mario game. Instead, Nintendo launched Dr. Luigi on the Wii U. Since then, the franchise has been dormant.

We do not yet have any gameplay details or video of Dr. Mario World. However, we will update you as soon as we hear new developments concerning the title. Are you planning to spend some time playing the game this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
