As is tradition, Nintendo has picked a random moment in the evening to inform us all that Nintendo Switch Online is adding new NES and SNES games for December! On Dec. 18, a new NES game and four more SNES titles will join the Switch Online lineup. The singular NES addition is Nightshade, while the SNES additions include The Ignition Factor, Super Valis IV, Tuff E Nuff, and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!, the last of which rounds out the trilogy.
5 more titles are coming to the #SNES & #NES – #NintendoSwitchOnline collection on 12/18!

To examine these new Nintendo Switch Online games a bit closer: Nightshade is a unique adventure that combines point-and-click gameplay with something resembling more familiar action. The Ignition Factor is a game about firefighting and saving civilians in a variety of life-threatening situations (but is not to be confused with The Firemen). Tuff E Nuff, aside from having a spectacular name just exploding with ’90s baditude, is a fighting game with four playable characters and “your special attacks level up each time you defeat a certain number of enemies, making your hero grow even more powerful.” Super Valis IV is an action platformer where the “longer you take clearing a stage, the stronger the boss at its end will get,” so embrace your inner speedrunner. And finally, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble! is the final Donkey Kong Country from Rare on SNES, garnering the same positive reception as previous games.
Nintendo has offered some additional “classified information” to help you play each of the SNES games.
Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch Online in Japan will receive Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shugo and Sugoi Hebereke from Super Famicom and Smash Ping Pong from Famicom, in addition to Donkey Kong Country 3 and Fire Fighting (aka The Ignition Factor).
