On the heels of Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX, IGN’s Summer of Gaming has announced Demon Turf, a new 3D platformer with some 2D visual elements that will come to Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, and Epic Games Store. The game comes from developer Fabraz, and it is intended to publish in a vague window at either the end of 2020 or early 2021.
In Demon Turf, you play as youthful female demon Beebz, who desires to become the Demon Queen by dethroning the Demon King. In order to do that, Beebz has to confront and beat up all the other turf leaders of the various different places in the demon world. Interestingly, when you defeat a turf leader, their turf (i.e., game world) will change in a major way, such as altering time of day and/or changing the level layout. It will result in a whole new experience that makes it worth it to replay a level. Plus, the game will be full of sidequests, including a “Photo Hunt” that has you taking selfies at specific locations.
Notably, combat is “physics-driven” and you have the ability to drop your own checkpoints. Additionally, purchasable mods will allow you to change how Beebz plays. Basically, Demon Turf sounds pretty cool as far as 3D platformers go. Have a look at the alpha footage and tell us what you think of Fabraz’s work.
