Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet takes walk of shame onto Switch

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet for Nintendo Switch

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet is headed for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan on Mar. 20, 2019. This news comes from Dead or Alive Festival 2018 out of Tokyo. Included in this new version of the game is Misaki, who appeared in Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation for PC. No international release of the Team Ninja / Koei Tecmo game has yet been announced.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet for Nintendo Switch

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 originally released back in March of 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Vita exclusively in Asian territories, but the game came with an English option that made it import-friendly. In any case, this marks the first appearance of the beach-spinoff franchise on a Nintendo console.

My only question to this news is — should anyone actually be excited? This series was pretty embarrassing even back during the era in which it first released, and cringeworthy commercials exist to back that assertion up. Hence why I went with a kind of cruel title for this article. But to be fair, I’ve never played any of these games myself, so it’s theoretically possible that there are genuinely enjoyable and well-crafted sports in these games. I mean, I really doubt it, and I think the target audience for these games is lonely men. But there are worse ways to spend leisure time than on beautiful digital beaches, I suppose, so who am I to judge?
