Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition is headed to Nintendo Switch on Sept. 26 by way of THQ Nordic, and boy if that isn’t a colorful name for the game. This follows up on the release of Darksiders: Warmastered Edition on Switch back in April, and it runs along with the unspecified release of Darksiders Genesis later this year. Refresh yourself on the second entry in the series with the new trailer below.
For those who are new to Darksiders II, it’s a hack-and-slash adventure that the publisher describes like this:
Become the terrifying force which everything fears but nothing can escape. Awakened by the End of Days, Death, the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen embarks on a quest to redeem his brother’s name. Along the way, the Horseman discovers that an ancient grudge may threaten all of Creation. Death lives!
I have to say, if I could choose to be anyone in a fight, choosing to be Death incarnate would rank among the safest choices. So kudos to Gunfire Games and Joe Mad for watching our backs on that one.
In any case, Darksiders III is now the only entry in the series to have no announced release for Nintendo Switch, though that could always change. The Diablo-inspired spin-off Genesis is shaping up very nicely in the interim, as I learned in my hands-on time at E3. Although I don’t see myself splurging for the $380 version of it.
