Crysis Remastered on Switch is 720-900p docked, gets gameplay video

Crytek has released some new Crysis Remastered gameplay on Nintendo Switch to check out in a half-hour video. In the video, the developers explained that the game runs between 720 and 900p in docked mode depending on implementation of dynamic resolution and between 500 and 720p handheld. The video doesn’t cover a lot of ground in terms of the campaign, but it does show off exactly how good the game looks right now on Switch.

This Crysis Remastered gameplay gives an extended look at features touched upon in the recent tech trailer. One of those features is dynamic lighting. However, software-based ray-tracing isn’t present in Switch version, while it will be present in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.

The developers in this video just seem to be happy that the game is running. They speak with pride about how implementing global illumination was a great accomplishment. Nintendo Switch was treated as a separate system structurally than the other platforms, because it comes with different restraints, but they believe they were able to make the necessary optimizations to make Crysis Remastered run as it should on Switch. Hopefully the game is everything we want it to be when we get our hands on it on July 23.

Started out playing Metroid 2 on the GameBoy at around 5 years-old, and now I write about games all day long. Can't play Switch and drive, I've tried. As time goes on the Switch is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time.
