Creepy Tale sneaks unusual puzzle platforming on Switch next week

Creepy Tale, the latest game from Deqaf Studio, is launching for Nintendo Switch on July 10. The game brings a unique blend of 2D puzzle platforming to the console set in an unsettling new world. It will be 221 MB on the Nintendo eShop.

Creepy Tale will feature “unusual puzzles with unusual solutions,” with items that can be collected and used for a “wide variety of cases.” Like with many horror games, it’s better to run away and hide from enemies than it is to confront them, though that should be obvious from the fact that you play as a young boy. The game’s beautiful art style does a great job of conveying just how gruesome this world’s monsters look.

The game’s story sees the protagonist and their brother playing in a woods, but things quickly go south, and the protagonist is dragged into a nightmarish ordeal with all sorts of creatures. The key to progression is avoiding capture, which can only be done by solving the puzzles you find yourself faced with at every turn.

A dark story lies within this world’s woods, one that saw them turned from a once peaceful location into a home for the horrors haunting you now. The story will see you uncover this dark history and perhaps return the woods to their former nature, if you can make it through this creepy tale.

Started out playing Metroid 2 on the GameBoy at around 5 years-old, and now I write about games all day long. Can't play Switch and drive, I've tried. As time goes on the Switch is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time.
