Some people (me) pay no attention whatsoever to who is voicing the characters in their favorite video games and TV shows. Meanwhile, other people (my colleagues) are absolutely rabid about supporting their favorite voice actors and will follow them to the edges of the earth. So the latter category will be absolutely delighted to hear that regular Tails voice actor Colleen O’Shaughnessey has confirmed that she will continue to play the character in Paramount and Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie. It makes good sense, since she already voiced Tails in a cameo at the end of the first film.
Taking my old pal Tails for another adventure. Thrilled to announce I’m the voice of Miles “Tails” Prower in #SonicMovie2! Can’t wait for y'all to see him on the big screen.

Nonetheless, Paramount and Sega having Colleen O’Shaughnessey play Tails in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is still remarkable, since Sonic and Knuckles are being played by bigger-name actors than their video game / TV voice actor counterparts. Ben Schwartz reprises the role of Sonic from the first movie, and Knuckles is being voiced by Idris Elba (who ludicrously tries to claim that Knuckles won’t sound sexy in the movie). Meanwhile, Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter are reprising the human roles of Dr. Robotnik, Tom Wachowski, and Maddie Wachowski respectively. The movie finished filming back in June, which took place in Vancouver and Hawaii.
