Chris Pratt, Seth Rogen, Jack Black, and more have been cast in the Mario movie, releasing in North America next December

Mario release date Chris Pratt Mario

Tonight’s Nintendo Direct had no shortage of news about the upcoming animated Mario movie from Illumination. In addition to a December 21, 2022 release date for North America (release dates for other regions will be announced at a later time), we got the reveal of a rather star-studded cast listing for the movie, including Chris Pratt, Jack Black, and Seth Rogen among many others.

Pratt takes center billing in this feature as he’ll lend his voice to the star of the show, Mario. He’ll be joined on the big screen by the following actors:

  • Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach
  • Charlie Day as Luigi
  • Jack Black as Bowser
  • Keegan-Michael Key as Toad
  • Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong
  • Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek
  • Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong
  • Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike

It wouldn’t really be a Mario movie without including Charles Martinet, would it? While the voice of Mario unfortunately won’t be reprising his role in this film, he’ll have a number of surprise cameos throughout the movie.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have an actual look at the movie, so it’s still way too early to tell how this project will turn out. While I’m generally a fan of the individual actors in the cast list, I’m not entirely convinced that they’re a good fit for the movie. I guess we’ll have to wait until December 2022 to find out for sure!
