64-Bit Tonic

One of Playtonic Games’ Kickstarter goals for Yooka-Laylee was the 64-Bit tonic, a version of the game designed to replicate the visuals of 3D platformers from the Nintendo 64 era. The development team’s been quiet for a while, and now we have a reason.

Playtonic has begun work on the 64-Bit version of Yooka-Laylee. Here’s the first image, along with an excerpt from their blog post.

You may have noticed that we’re continuing to be mysterious and quiet here in the Playtonic dev bunker. That’s simply because we’re all heads down, buzzing like union worker bees, spawning some of the cool stuff we hope to get into your hands in the near future. And that of course includes the remaining Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter stretch goals, such as the dev commentary series, additional content and the ’64-Bit’ tonic, which we’re working on right now.”
